Softball Recap: Lee Comes Up Short

Lee fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Monument Mountain on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Spartans' pitcher proved too tough.

Brianna Lynch was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

Lee's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6. As for Monument Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Coming up, Lee will take on Wahconah Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monument Mountain, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Mount Everett Regional at 3:00 p.m. The Spartans are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
