Softball Recap: Cumberland's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Cumberland can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Unity Eagles. The Beavers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 12th (when they won 17-0).

Morgan Monchilovich made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Monchilovich was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last seven contests.

In other batting news, Cumberland got a massive performance out of Avery Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Presli Butzler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Cumberland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Unity only posted a batting average of .364.

Cumberland's victory bumped their record up to 12-15-1. As for Unity, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

As of now, neither Cumberland nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
