Softball Game Preview: Temecula Valley Golden Bears vs. Chaparral Pumas

For the second straight game, Temecula Valley will face off against Chaparral. The Golden Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Pumas at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Temecula Valley has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Temecula Valley is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Chaparral.

Kay Peterson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Jaycee Branson was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Samantha Light, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Temecula Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Chaparral, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-13.
