After each having a week off, the Lowndes Vikings and the Collins Hill Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Lowndes 11.4, Collins Hill 14.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
Lowndes heads into the contest have just come up short against nationally ranked Valdosta (Lowndes was ranked 82nd at the time). The Vikings fell 23-14 to the Wildcats on Friday. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
The losing side was boosted by Jayce Johnson, who rushed for 106 yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, Collins Hill humbled Discovery with a 42-7 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lowndes better focus on containing Joel Bradford and A.J. Bush as the pair were huge in Collins Hill's win. Bradford rushed for 49 yards and one touchdown, while Bush threw for 85 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Bush racked up 127.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Collins Hill's defense and their six sacks. Deuce Geralds was especially locked on to Discovery's QB and sacked him twice.
The win made it two in a row for Collins Hill and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points over those games. As for Lowndes, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Lowndes has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 266 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Collins Hill, though, as they've been averaging only 95.7 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Lowndes was dealt a bruising 49-7 loss at the hands of Collins Hill in their previous matchup back in November of 2021. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Vikings were down 28-7.
