Volleyball Recap: Bear River Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Bear River and Sky View squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Bear River had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat last Thursday.

Bear River started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-18.

When it comes to explaining why Bear River lost, don't look at Kailyn Rice. Despite the final result, she had 20 digs and one assist. Rice has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Leading Sky View to victory were Brynn Spackman and Abby Thatcher. Spackman had 12 digs, while Thatcher had 19 digs and three assists.

Bear River has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Sky View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-12.

Bear River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sky View, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Crimson Cliffs on the 27th.
