Cherokee Trail takes loss despite strong efforts from Michael Steinbrinck and Braylen Thomas

The Cherokee Trail Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 86-85 to Legend. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (55), Cherokee Trail still had to take the loss.

Cherokee Trail's loss came despite strong showings from Braylen Thomas and Michael Steinbrinck. Thomas scored 26 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Steinbrinck scored 18 points. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Naode Ghide, who scored 12 points.

Carson Flowers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Legend, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Seth Whitehead was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Cherokee Trail's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Legend, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherokee Trail will take on Rampart at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rampart has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three games. As for Legend, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mullen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
