Baseball Game Preview: High Point Christian Academy Cougars vs. Oak Grove Grizzlies

The High Point Christian Academy Cougars will face off against the Oak Grove Grizzlies at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. High Point Christian Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.

On Thursday, High Point Christian Academy made easy work of Greensboro Day School and carried off a 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

HUNTER KELLEY looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Oak Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Central Davidson last Thursday and fell 3-2. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oak Grove saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Messer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

High Point Christian Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. High Point Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Oak Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts.
