Basketball Recap: Caleb Short's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Verbena over Notasulga

Verbena played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 62-40 to the Notasulga Blue Devils. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-44 back in December of 2024.

Verbena's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Short, who posted eight points. Short is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Kelley, who put up six points.

Verbena's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Notasulga, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.

Verbena won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Autauga Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Notasulga, they and Autaugaville will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played.
