Baseball Recap: Luray Gets the Win

Luray won the last time they faced Rocktown and things went their way on Monday too. Luray won by a run and slipped past Rocktown 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Conner Hilliard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Luray's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Eli Wood, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was Wood's first of the season.

Luray's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Rocktown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Luray will challenge East Rockingham at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rocktown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlottesville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
