Shy Hawkins commands the offense for a Colonials win

Recap: William Floyd Colonials vs. Patchogue-Medford Raiders

The William Floyd Colonials entered their tilt with the Patchogue-Medford Raiders with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. In a tight game that could have gone either way, William Floyd made off with a 55-54 victory over Patchogue-Medford. For William Floyd, this counts as revenge for the 38-33 defeat Patchogue-Medford walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead William Floyd to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shy Hawkins, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayden Meyer, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.

William Floyd pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Patchogue-Medford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. William Floyd will take on Brentwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patchogue-Medford will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Walt Whitman at 4:00 p.m. on February 1st.
