Basketball Recap: Gordon-Rushville Comes Up Short

Gordon-Rushville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Mitchell Tigers and fell 75-31. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 72-26 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Gordon-Rushville had strong showings from Braylon Holston, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Maddox Leeper, who posted four points. That was a full 38.7% of Gordon-Rushville's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Gordon-Rushville's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mitchell, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Gordon-Rushville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-37 win against Bayard on the 11th. As for Mitchell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-57 defeat against Chadron on the 11th.
