Recap: Johansen Vikings vs. Lathrop Spartans
Even though the Johansen Vikings have not done well against the Lathrop Spartans recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Johansen walked away with a 56-46 win over Lathrop. For Johansen, this counts as revenge for the 83-40 defeat Lathrop walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Johansen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wilbert Gaxiola led the charge by scoring 19 points. Gaxiola is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caidan Bounmany, who scored 16 points.
Johansen's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Lathrop, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johansen will take on Beyer at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lathrop, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain House at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain House will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
