Soccer Game Preview: Madison vs. Owen

Madison hasn't had much luck against Owen recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Warhorses at 6:00 p.m. Madison has given up an average of 5 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Madison's offense. They came up short against Polk County on Monday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Madison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 504th, while Polk County are ranked 71st).

Meanwhile, Owen hasn't lost a match since September 15th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Monday. They never let Hendersonville get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.

Boone Ferguson and Lyle Sulzman scored both of Owen's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Owen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 41 goals over those seven matchups. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14-1.

Madison suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Owen in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
