Basketball Recap: West Stokes Comes Up Short

After soaring to 55 points the game before, West Stokes was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 63-23 loss at the hands of the Starmount Rams. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-8.

Starmount was led to victory by Carley Money and Molly Swaim. Money went 6 of 8 on her way to 16 points and five steals, while Swaim went 8 of 18 on her way to 22 points and three steals. Money is becoming a predictor of Starmount's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 4-2 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mackinzie Cox, who posted six points.

West Stokes' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6. As for Starmount, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

West Stokes will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against T.W. Andrews at 6:00 p.m. T.W. Andrews will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something West Stokes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Starmount, they will head out to face off against Mount Airy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Mount Airy: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Starmount has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
