Wake Prep Academy came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 57-35 margin over the Franklin Academy Patriots. The Guardians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Wake Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Journey Johnson led the charge by going 8 for 16 on her way to 19 points and seven steals. Beanie Ballman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 steals.

Wake Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Iliana Rodriguez, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Bella DeLiso, who earned ten points.

Wake Prep Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Franklin Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
