Softball Recap: American Canyon Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

American Canyon entered their tilt with Napa on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Grizzlies 14-5. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Wolves this season.

Kate Sosa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Deja Montgomery, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Madison Del Castillo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

American Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

American Canyon's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Napa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
