Santana came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-5 to the Helix Highlanders. The Sultans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Santana got a good showing from Brandon Landers, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Santana saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Greg Ryan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. Xander Bennett also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Santana's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Helix, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-9 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santana will head out to challenge Monte Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Monarchs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.56 runs per game on average), something the Sultans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Helix, they are taking a road trip to face off against El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
