Basketball Recap: Giles Takes a Loss

If Giles was feeling good fresh off their 56-26 takedown of Craig County last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Giles Spartans were beaten by the Bland County Bears 79-34 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Bears are ranked 113th).

Bland County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tinley Worley out in front who went 8-for-16 on her way to 23 points along with six boards and six steals. Worley continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kendall Worley was another key player, going 8-for-13 to rack up 20 points and five assists.

Giles' loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Bland County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bland County beat Giles by a score of 57-48 on Wednesday.
