Baseball Recap: Casteel Extends Home Winning Streak to 14

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Casteel ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Chandler Wolves. The win was nothing new for the Colts as they're now sitting on four straight.

Ryan Harwood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Jose Bingochea and Ryne Barker did most of the damage at the plate: Bingochea went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Barker scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Barker has posted since back in April of 2024.

Casteel's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Chandler, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Casteel will host Desert Vista at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Casteel 2.8, Desert Vista 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Chandler, they will welcome Kofa at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Chandler's pitchers better be ready for this one: Kofa has averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
