Softball Recap: Mater Dei Wins Going Away Against Gibault Catholic

Mater Dei won the last time they faced Gibault Catholic and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Knights put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Mater Dei got a great performance from Lexi CayLor as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Caylor a new career-high.

At the plate, Allyson Willmann was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Roelfs, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Mater Dei hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gibault Catholic struck out six times.

Mater Dei now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Gibault Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei will take on Mascoutah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gibault Catholic, they will square off against Nashville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
