Softball Game Preview: Brunswick Blue Devils vs. Magnificat Blue Streaks

The Brunswick Blue Devils will take on the Magnificat Blue Streaks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

After dropping their season opener at home, Magnificat is headed out to face a Blue Devils squad ready to give their home crowd a win. Brunswick came up short against Brecksville-Broadview Heights on Tuesday, falling 18-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Addison Compton and Lilly Leichliter stepped up to the plate in a big way. Compton scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Leichliter went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Miller, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Magnificat lost 16-5 to Gilmour Academy on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Vanessa Roth made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.
