Basketball Recap: Roman Miramontes and Adrian Alvarez Secure Win for Hilltop

Hilltop waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They managed a 46-42 win over the Horizon Prep Lions.

Leading Hilltop to victory were Adrian Alvarez and Roman Miramontes. Alvarez went 7 of 14 on his way to 20 points, while Miramontes went 6 for 9 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Those 20 points gave Alvarez a new career-high. Isma Hasani was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Hilltop smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Hilltop's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-12. As for Horizon Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

When Hilltop and Horizon Prep next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hilltop will try to stop Chula Vista's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Horizon Prep will take on Preuss UCSD and their five-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
