League recap: Citrus Valley's Lanphere delivers best pitching performance from past week

Mountain Valley's top pitcher this week was Citrus Valley's Luke Lanphere. He struck out six batters this week.

The Blackhawks currently sit at the top of the league with a mark of 23-6 overall and 15-0 in league play. Jurupa Hills is 7 games back and in second place with an 8-7 league record.

Citrus Valley's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing seven hits and three walks to lead the league in both categories.

Lanphere tossed six strikeouts this week while on the hill for the Blackhawks, adding to his league-best total of 105.

The highest batting average in the league this week belonged to Citrus Valley's Jordan Babbitt, who churned out two hits in three at bats for a .667 average. His average for the season stands at .410, which ranks 13th in the league. Babbitt has 41 hits total this season.



Tyler Penix threw a shutout as he led the Blackhawks to victory over Village Christian, 1-0, on Tuesday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out three, while giving up three hits.
