Softball Recap: South Titans vs. Emporia Spartans
South had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it six. They came up short against the Emporia Spartans, falling 19-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Friday.
As for Emporia, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. That 19-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
For Emporia's part, Delaney Davis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Davis was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yzabel Ultreras, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Marley Sewell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
South and Emporia will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Titans are set to face off against their familiar foe Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Emporia will challenge rival Hayden at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
