Basketball Recap: Marengo Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sweet Water last Thursday, Marengo came back down to earth. The Marengo Panthers took a 48-33 bruising from the Shields Panthers on Saturday. Marengo hasn't had much luck with Shields recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Marengo lost, don't look at Jordan Moore. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 14 en route to 18 points and four steals. Moore's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Marengo's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-5. As for Shields, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marengo will welcome Shields at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shields, they will be playing at home against Sweet Water at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
