Baseball Game Preview: Morro Bay Pirates vs. Santa Maria Saints

For the second straight game, Morro Bay will face off against Santa Maria. The Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Morro Bay 4.1, Santa Maria 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Morro Bay played against Santa Maria on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

Dominic Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jordan Medina was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Andrew Rice, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Santa Maria's record is now 11-1. As for Morro Bay, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-3.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Morro Bay has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Santa Maria struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits.
