There's no place like home for Appomattox County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-40 win over the Chatham Cavaliers on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-47 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Appomattox County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Chavis, who posted 14 points and five rebounds. Riley Chandler was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Despite the defeat, Chatham saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amare Word dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Word a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Luck, who scored two points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Appomattox County's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Chatham, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Appomattox County has already played their next contest, a 65-63 defeat against Nelson County on the 17th. As for Chatham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-60 loss against William Campbell on the 10th.
