Mica Mountain skates past Walden Grove with ease

Recap: Mica Mountain Thunderbolts vs. Walden Grove Red Wolves

The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Walden Grove 69-15 at home. Given Mica Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Red Wolves are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Isabella Webb continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Raechel Beck, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 18 rebounds.

Mica Mountain has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Walden Grove, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.

Mica Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Douglas is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season. As for Walden Grove, they will be playing at home against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Amphitheater is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
