Softball Recap: Lakewood Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Lakewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Northridge Vikings with a sharp 17-6 victory on Monday. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Lakewood got a massive performance out of Cora Redman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Redman has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Carly Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lakewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Lakewood's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. As for Northridge, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Lakewood will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Licking Heights at 5:00 p.m. As for Northridge, they will venture away from home to square off against Millersport at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lakers have averaged an impressive 12.9 runs per game this season.
