After a string of six wins, Houston's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Amory Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hilltoppers of the 4-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

Cason Moss was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Houston's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Amory, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

When Houston and Amory next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Houston will challenge Caledonia and their four-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Houston's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Amory's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Similarly, Amory will try to stop Pontotoc's five-game winning streak when they meet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
