Basketball Game Preview: Victory Christian Vikings vs. Sacramento Waldorf Waves

Victory Christian and Sacramento Waldorf are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Victory Christian Vikings will square off against the Sacramento Waldorf Waves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Victory Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

While Victory Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Forest Lake Christian by a score of 65-56 on Tuesday.

Victory Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Kapelkin, who posted 24 points. Another player making a difference was Ben Milward, who earned 16 points.

Meanwhile, Sacramento Waldorf had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They blew past the Bulldogs 51-13. The Waves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Sacramento Waldorf's win came from a few key players Victory Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Liam Aldwinckle, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Miranda, who put up eight points along with six boards and four steals.

Sacramento Waldorf's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Victory Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
