Basketball Recap: Columbiana Falls Despite Big Games from Seth Struharik and Cooper Brown

Columbiana easily dispatched United last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Columbiana Clippers fell just short of the Mathews Mustangs by a score of 70-68 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Clippers have suffered since December 8, 2023.

Columbiana's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cooper Brown, who went 9-for-18 on his way to 24 points in addition to three steals and three blocks, and Seth Struharik, who went 7-for-14 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. What's more, Struharik also posted a 63% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Luca Cagliuso was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Columbiana was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Columbiana's loss dropped their record down to 19-3. As for Mathews, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Columbiana does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mathews, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lowellville at 7:00 p.m. on February 22nd.
