Softball Game Preview: Lovejoy Leopards vs. Hallsville Bobcats

For the second straight game, Lovejoy will face off against Hallsville. The Leopards will take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lovejoy 3.3, Hallsville 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lovejoy heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to Hallsville. The Leopards' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

For Hallsville's part, not much got past Lindsey Dubberly, who gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks to keep Lovejoy off the board. Dubberly has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hope Miles was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Audrey Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Hallsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Lovejoy, their loss dropped their record down to 25-12.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Lovejoy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hallsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs.
