Basketball Game Preview: Cimarron Bluejays vs. Lakin Broncs

Cimarron hasn't had much luck against Lakin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cimarron Bluejays will take on the Lakin Broncs at 7:00 p.m.

Cimarron is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Hugoton, falling 60-38.

Meanwhile, Lakin entered their tilt with Southwestern Heights on Tuesday with ten consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 11. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 65-45 win. Given the Broncs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Mustangs are ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakin pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Cimarron, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Cimarron was dealt a bruising 66-38 defeat at the hands of Lakin when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lakin's Austin Ritsema, who went 9 for 11 en route to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks.
