Basketball Recap: Nunamiut Gets the Win

While Nunamiut has struggled on the road with five straight losses, that wasn't the case on Tuesday thanks to Tyler Hugo. The Nunamiut Amaguq walked away with a 57-50 win over the Fort Yukon Eagles thanks in part to Hugo, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds. He has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last nine times he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Galloso, who posted 12 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Fort Yukon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Carroll, who scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was Marsten Capelli, who put up 16 points.

Nunamiut now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fort Yukon, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Nunamiut wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-46 victory against Non Varsity Opponent on the 23rd. As for Fort Yukon, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tok on February 6th. Fort Yukon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.
