Softball Recap: 26 Straight Home Victories for Claysburg-Kimmel

Claysburg-Kimmel had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Homer-Center Wildcats with a sharp 11-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won 16 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Launa Musselman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McKenna Black was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Bella Francona, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Claysburg-Kimmel's win was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-0. As for Homer-Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Claysburg-Kimmel will be playing in front of their home fans against Purchase Line at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 1.8, the Red Dragons 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Homer-Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
