Basketball Recap: Pleasant Hill/Western Takes a Loss

After flying high against Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia last Monday, Pleasant Hill/Western came back down to earth. The Pleasant Hill/Western Wolves took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Illini West Chargers on Tuesday. If the Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 42-13 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Loss or not, Pleasant Hill/Western got some senior leadership from Ava Wombles and Rachel McMullen. Wombles posted 18 points, while McMullen scored 13 points. Those 13 points gave McMullen a new career-high.

Pleasant Hill/Western's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-13. As for Illini West, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-12.

Pleasant Hill/Western didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-17 victory against Rushville-Industry on the 6th. As for Illini West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-50 loss against Havana on the 6th.
