Oakleaf put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 35-26 victory over the Hawthorne Hornets. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 27-21 win the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Jack McKissock had a dynamite game, throwing for 223 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Oakleaf proved: they limited Hawthorne to a paltry -0.3 yards per carry. While four picked up at least seven total tackles, DeQuan Beecham stood above the rest. He picked up 2.5 sacks and made seven total tackles. Oakleaf didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.

Oakleaf didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rodney Townsend Jr. and Issac Young. Townsend Jr. has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last five times he's played. Oakleaf got some further help from Beecham: he picked up 2.5 sacks and made seven total tackles.

Although Hawthorne took the loss, they still got scores from Dominick Harvey, Messiah Gent, Kyler Ingram, and Darian Bowie.

Oakleaf's record now sits at 4-0. As for Hawthorne, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakleaf will take on Bolles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Hawthorne, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bayshore at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
