Lakeside is 0-10 against Jefferson Area since May of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Falcons at 4:30 p.m.
Conneaut hit Lakeside with a four-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. While the Dragons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 4-0 in the first period.
Lakeside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Myers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Area entered their tilt with Grand Valley on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Mustangs. Considering the Falcons have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Olivia Lewis made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jefferson Area let Alaina Barress and Kennidie Rogers run wild. Barress got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Rogers went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Julia Sprague, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.
Jefferson Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in six consecutive games.
Jefferson Area's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Lakeside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
