Basketball Recap: Prince RVT Comes Up Short

Prince RVT was the 73-48 winner over Capital Prep when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Prince RVT Falcons fell 64-55 to the Capital Prep Trailblazers on Wednesday.

When it comes to explaining why Prince RVT lost, don't look at Jordan Iverson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. The match was Iverson's 12th in a row with at least 15 points. Yericziel Cruz was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 12 points.

Capital Prep found their leader in sophomore Syre Gillespie, who posted 32 points along with six boards and three steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Gillespie has scored at least a third of Capital Prep's points. Another player making a difference was Javaris Spencer, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Prince RVT has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Capital Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-14.

Looking ahead, Prince RVT won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bassick at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Capital Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Amistad at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Amistad is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.
