Basketball Recap: Holly Grove Christian Takes a Loss

Holly Grove Christian played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Eastern Shore HomeSchool Mavericks 53-24. Having soared to a lofty 60 points in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Holly Grove Christian still got an impressive performance from Jackson Ellis, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ellis is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. John Banks also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Holly Grove Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Leading Eastern Shore HomeSchool to victory were Zach Miller and Izzy Cousins. Miller posted 14 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds, while Cousins went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points and eight boards. Eli Miller was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven assists and four steals.

Holly Grove Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Eastern Shore HomeSchool, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Holly Grove Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-32 defeat against Delmar on the 3rd. As for Eastern Shore HomeSchool, they have also already played their next game, a 67-44 win against Salisbury on the 3rd.
