Basketball Recap: Okolona Find Success

Okolona's game on Tuesday was all tied up 27-27 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 66-55 victory over the Bruce Trojans. The Chieftains have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Despite the defeat, Bruce saw an underclassman step up: freshman Markeevis Gladney almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Gladney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Jackson, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for Okolona and bumps their season record up to 2-5. As for Bruce, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Okolona will challenge Booneville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bruce, they will host Vardaman at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
