West Valley is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to face off against the University Prep Panthers at 4:30 p.m. West Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
West Valley picked up another tournament win on Saturday. Everything went their way against Anderson as West Valley made off with a 21-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Maddy Pemberton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero). She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, West Valley got a massive performance out of Addy Taylor, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Coral Tozer, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, University Prep waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out Chico 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory University Prep has posted since April 25, 2024.
Hailey Pebley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Madisyn Rubalcava was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Aubrey Caudell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
University Prep pushed their record up to 4-5-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for West Valley, their record is now 7-4.
West Valley suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to University Prep in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can West Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
