Basketball Game Preview: Ridgeland Titans vs. Columbus Falcons

The Ridgeland Titans and the Columbus Falcons will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ridgeland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Columbus likes a good challenge.

Ridgeland is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Madison Central, who was ranked 20th at the time (Ridgeland was ranked third). Ridgeland walked away with a 60-53 win over Madison Central on Saturday.

Ridgeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Phil Nelson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. The contest was Nelson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Khameron Snow, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.

Ridgeland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Columbus' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost to Germantown on the road by a 72-54 margin.

Ridgeland's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Columbus, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.

Ridgeland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Columbus in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 62-58 win. Will Ridgeland repeat their success, or does Columbus have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
