Lake Region hasn't had much luck against Auburndale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Thunder are taking a road trip to take on the Bloodhounds at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Lake Region strolled past Poinciana with points to spare, taking the game 20-6. That 14 point margin sets a new team best for the Thunder this season.

Among those leading the charge was Semaj Jeanty, who threw for 197 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 33 yards and one touchdown. A healthy portion of Jeanty's aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to Jermaine May.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Auburndale's strategy against Poinciana on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bloodhounds blew the Eagles out of the water with a 42-0 final score. Given the Bloodhounds' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Eagles are ranked 381st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Auburndale's win came from a few key players Lake Region will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Teo Edwards, who threw for 126 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground. Another player making a difference was Pat Weir Jr, who rushed for 34 yards and one TD.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Auburndale proved: they limited Poinciana to a paltry one yards per carry. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Auburndale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kris Williams, Cassidy Ervin, and Willie Manuel picked up one apiece.
The victory made it two in a row for Auburndale and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Lake Region, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Lake Region was taken down by Auburndale 34-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
