Basketball Recap: Wakefield's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After a string of four wins, Wakefield's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Elizabeth Seton 58-52. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 32nd in North Carolina, while Elizabeth Seton are ranked third in Maryland).

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lyla Bagwell, who posted 12 points. Bagwell is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Aly Schaffer was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Elizabeth Seton, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Wakefield will head out to face off against Northern Guilford at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Elizabeth Seton and Friends' Central will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Elizabeth Seton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
