Baseball Recap: Rancho Bernardo Takes Down Bonita Vista in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rancho Bernardo walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bonita Vista Barons an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Barons: they've now won four in a row.

Caden Dockan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Rancho Bernardo let NATHAN BEMBENEK and Brady Strachan run wild. BEMBENEK went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Strachan went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI BEMBENEK has posted since back in April. HUGO GONZALEZ was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

Rancho Bernardo's record now sits at 16-12. As for Bonita Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season.

As of now, neither Rancho Bernardo nor Bonita Vista have any future games scheduled.
