Baseball Game Preview: Effingham Hearts vs. Centralia Orphans

For the second straight game, Effingham will face off against Centralia. The Hearts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Orphans at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.

Centralia hit Effingham with a five-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hearts fell just short of the Orphans by a score of 5-4.

For Centralia's part, Dax Snow and Austin Arthur dominated on the mound. Snow tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Arthur pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Snow has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Centralia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Stanton, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Stanton has posted since back in April.

Centralia's win bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Effingham, they dropped their record down to 19-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
