Softball Recap: Jasper's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Jasper came into Thursday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Buna Cougars by a score of 8-3 on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

BRAELYN BEATTY made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, ZYRIA HADNOT and RAYLYN MORRISEY did most of the damage at the plate: HADNOT went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run, while MORRISEY went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was CARSYN ARMSTRONG, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Jasper always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Jasper's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Buna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jasper will be taking part in a tournament against Kountze at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Buna, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Evadale at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
