Baseball Recap: Dimmitt Has No Trouble Against Abernathy

Dimmitt lost to Abernathy back in February of 2018, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Dimmitt Bobcats put the hurt on the Abernathy Antelopes with a sharp 24-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.

Rudy Fuentes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fuentes was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ga'Quorie Chatham was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Kaden Carpio was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Dimmitt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Dimmitt now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Abernathy, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bobcats take on the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Abernathy, they will take on Brownfield at 7:00 p.m. on March 3rd.
